SANY’s Utica Academy of Science is excited to announce the opening of an Elementary School in the 2018-2019 Academic Year; starting with grades K-1! SANY's academic year starts in August.

As a result, we are looking for an ESL Teacher. We have a great environment for new teachers and encourage experienced teachers to apply! New York State ESOL Certification required.

The content of lessons varies depending on the reason why the students are learning English. The aim of each lesson is to encourage the students to communicate with each other using the structures and vocabulary they've learned and to improve the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

We need Teachers who will:

• Provide engaging lesson plans the conform to the charter's curriculum
• Implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs
• Ensure lesson plans show modifications for differences in student learning styles
• Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
• Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
• Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities
• Have great classroom management

What you need

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
• NYS ESOL certification required
• Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus
• Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply!
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
