Primary Role and Purpose:
Operate as the educational leader and chief educational officer of the school(s) while implementing policies set by the board of trustees. Assume administrative responsibility for the planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of the education programs, services, facilities of the charter contract, and for the annual evaluations of the school staff.
- Oversee instructional and managerial program to validate effectiveness of education program outcomes and use results to make adaptations.
- Collaborate with director on planning, operation, supervision and evaluation of education program. Involve students and community members when appropriate.
- Establish resources and materials to aid teaching staff in achieving instructional goals.
- Encourage partnership and team building among charter members. Illicit their participation in decision-making process.
- Use effective communication practices with Director, staff, students, parents and community.
- Collaborate with staff and students to design a student discipline plan that encourages a positive learning environment and enhances student’s behavior.
- Provide for uniform enforcement of school rules and oversee appropriate and reasonable student discipline as issued in accordance with the student handbook.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred. A degree in educational leadership or curriculum or instruction is highly preferable.
Skills:
- Knowledge of school law, finance, and curriculum.
- Able to manage budget and personnel.
- Able to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
At least three -3 years of teaching or administrative experience. A degree in educational leadership or curriculum or instruction is highly preferable.
